Back to school is in full swing at Green Tree School and Services! We’re inviting you to get a glimpse into the lives of some of our incredible team members who are heading back into the classroom and school building to support our students throughout the 2023-2024 school year. Title: High School Special Education Teacher

Q: Can you tell me a little bit about your family? 

I am from Philadelphia, PA. My family and I typically just like to have dinner. We also like to go shopping every now and then and tour around the city. We are pretty traditional.

Q: Do you have any hobbies? 

I like gardening. I just started getting into planting, so I have a few plants that I take care of.

Q: What was your favorite subject in school? 

I always liked creative writing and making different stories. I love to use my imagination and create things.

Q: What is your favorite thing about your job? 

I like giving my high school students a chance that they typically didn’t receive at their regular school. They don’t normally get good praise. It is usually bad reports or phone calls. So, I love giving them the praise they deserve and seeing their reactions. Making them feel special and happy makes my day.

Q: What are you most excited about for the school year?

Continuing to make positive relationships with my students. Making them feel special and giving them their recognition. I want to give them a good report and have us trust each other.

Q: Can you tell me about an achievement that you have seen from your position? 

I’ll never forget the reaction I got from the students when I started last fall. I started my job while the school year was already ongoing, so I was shocked to see how well they took to me. It was exciting for me because I thought it would take them a little while to get used to me being in the classroom. But they took to me right away.

Q: Do you have any future goals? 

I want to finish school and get my certification. That is my main goal.
